14) But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you. 15) You have taught the Holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus 16) All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17) God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
Vs 14-Telling a child they can trust those who have taught them is a big. When we recruit a volunteer we have to know that they are committed to mentoring and guiding children spiritually. That doesn't mean they have to be bible scholars, but more importantly people who are willing to invest and love on kids. When a child looks back on their childhood "church" experience they should be good, trusting and supported memories where they experienced life change.
Vs15 - Barna Research Group tells us that a child has a %70 chance of accepting Christ. It drops to %40 when they enter jr high/high school. Then again to %10 as an adult. That tells me that elementary kids are at a vital stage in their life when they are building a spiritual foundation. That's why we do ministries like ALPHA that help kids take their first step of Salvation or Second step of Baptism.
Vs 16- Keeping them in the word and knowing the word will help guide them. Synergy and Ropetown are 2 ministries that help them grow closer in their walk through knowing God's Word.
Vs17-God does equip us for all things He wants us to do and be a part of. He wants us to serve him and serve others. A ministry like Kid University can help a child understand that God has given them each special gifts. They are design unique for a reason! God want to equip them and so do we!
Well-I hope this is a little insight to why we do some of what we do in KID UNIVERSE. I love your kids and look forward to all God as ahead for them!-Ashlee
